FAMSA’s Mission To Empower Families and Enrich Lives Continues

On July 25, 2025, the Family and Marriage Society of South Africa (FAMSA) hosted its 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the New Apostolic Church in Vosloorus, bringing together a vibrant mix of community members, stakeholders, and board representatives. The event served not only as a formal review of the organization’s progress but also as a heartfelt celebration of resilience, collaboration, and hope.
A Community-Centered Mission
FAMSA has long been a pillar of support in Vosloorus, offering counseling, education, and outreach programs aimed at strengthening families and addressing pressing social issues. This year’s AGM reaffirmed the organization’s unwavering commitment to empowering families and enriching lives, even in the face of growing challenges.
Leadership in Action: FAMSA Board Members Reflect on Progress
During the meeting, FAMSA introduced its board members, each bringing a unique blend of expertise, empathy, and dedication to the organization’s mission. Their presence served as a powerful reminder that behind every initiative is a team of individuals deeply committed to helping families thrive, saving marriages, and building sustainable solutions.

Board members reflected on the progress made over the past year, highlighting their role in preserving family life through marriage counselling, parenting support, and community outreach. From guiding couples through conflict resolution to supporting youth affected by trauma, their work continues to strengthen the bonds that hold families together.
“We’ve faced challenges, but we’ve also seen transformation,” shared FAMSA Chairperson Mr. Mokone Mohlake. “Our work is rooted in compassion, and every step forward strengthens the families we serve.”
This moment of reflection underscored the board’s active role in driving FAMSA’s mission forward—not just as administrators, but as advocates, mentors, and community builders who believe that healthy families and strong marriages are the foundation of a thriving society.
Strength in Partnerships
The AGM also highlighted the presence of SANCA, a leading organization in substance abuse prevention and rehabilitation. Their involvement reinforced the need for multi-sector collaboration in tackling the intertwined issues affecting families in Vosloorus. Together, FAMSA and SANCA aim to provide holistic support that addresses both emotional and behavioral health.
Voices of Change and Collaboration
One of the most powerful moments of the AGM came from Mr. T. Baliso, a representative from The Municipality of the East Rand, who addressed the urgent need for collective action against GBV. His message was clear: “We cannot afford to work in silos. The fight against gender-based violence requires every voice, every hand, and every heart.”

His call to action resonated deeply with attendees, many of whom have witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of GBV in their neighborhoods. Mr. Baliso’s speech underscored the importance of community partnerships, grassroots mobilization, and ongoing education in creating a safer and more supportive environment for all.
Gratitude to Lotto: A Vehicle for Change
A particularly heartfelt moment came when FAMSA publicly expressed deep gratitude to Lotto for its generous sponsorship. Thanks to Lotto’s support, FAMSA was able to purchase vehicles that now play a crucial role in extending outreach services, transporting staff, and reaching vulnerable families in remote areas.

“These vehicles are more than just transport- they’re lifelines,” said FAMSA’s Managing Director . “They allow us to be present where we’re needed most, whether it’s responding to a crisis, delivering counseling services, or running educational workshops.”
The sponsorship has significantly enhanced FAMSA’s ability to serve the community efficiently and compassionately, making a tangible difference in the lives of many.

Looking Ahead: Sponsorship and Fundraising
To deepen its impact and extend its reach, FAMSA is actively seeking additional sponsorships while preparing to launch targeted fundraising initiatives. These efforts are aimed at:
- Expanding access to counselling and wellness services, especially in underserved areas
- Developing youth-focused programs that promote education, resilience, and empowerment
- Strengthening community outreach through workshops, school visits, and local partnerships
As part of this strategy, FAMSA plans to host gala dinners that will bring together corporate partners, philanthropists, and community leaders. These events will serve as both fundraising opportunities and storytelling platforms—celebrating the organization’s journey while inviting deeper collaboration.
“We’re building more than programs—we’re building partnerships,” said FAMSA board member Mr. Mphane. “These gala dinners will allow us to connect with those who believe in our mission and want to help us grow.”
With the right support, FAMSA hopes to ensure that every family in Vosloorus has access to care, guidance, and hope.

FAMSA’s 47th AGM was more than a meeting—it was a celebration of community resilience, a call to action, and a tribute to the power of partnership. With the support of sponsors like Lotto, and the collaboration of stakeholders like SANCA and the East Rand Municipality, FAMSA continues to prove that real change begins at the heart of the community.
Together, they are building a legacy of care, courage, and connection—one family at a time.
